Here is why you should not be ashamed of Crying.

Crying often is a response to an emotional state of pain. Emotions that lead to crying include sadness, anger and even happiness in most of the times. And it is a natural response to express emotions of an individual.

Most of the times people are ashamed to cry in the group or in public and even in front of family members sometimes. Infact we supress our emotions and try not to express our emotions to anyone. But thinking in this way may not be helpfull, because crying has plenty of benefits which leads to good mental wellbeing.

What are those benefits of crying that people should not be ashamed of?

Releases Stress Hormone

Stress hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline etc,. which results increased glucose level in our bloodstream and also increases the availability of substances that auto repairs brain tissues which regulates the body’s stress response.

Tears signal a need for care

Shedding tears releases oxytocin and endorphins that make you feel good and eases both physical & emotional pain and promote sense of well being.

Helps you cope with grief

Crying leads to acknowledge your pain and supports yourself emotionally by increased selfcare.

Releases oxytocin and endogenous opioids

The release of oxytocin and endogenous opioids that are naturally designed to ease pain works as anti-stressors to regulate the level of stress.

Activates the parasympathetic nervous system

This activation helps soothe and ease the body to function well that leads to better physical wellbeing.

Crying with safe people can strengthens bond

Sharing your thoughts/emotions with the person whom you believe and you feel safe can strengthen your relationship with well built bond.

Restores emotional balance

Expressing our emotions through crying makes you emotionally well balanced and reduces depressive feelings/thoughts.

Help detox the body

Crying can eliminate toxins in your body, improve health by getting you a better sleep and boosts circulation.

If next time someone says you are weak to cry, know that you are strong enough to express your emotions.
